Oncology Workflow Design

Oncology professionals work together as a team to provide care for cancer patients. At Velocity, we understand this important aspect in designing user interfaces for allowing multiple staff to work on a single patient's record. In contrast to this approach, the conventional PACS storage systems rely on one physician interacting with apatient for diagnosing and assessing disease. VelocityGRID was thoughtfully designed around the oncology clinical workflow by creating a centralized data warehouse with automation of complex tasks. VelocityGRID has created an oncology imaging lifestyle management system for enhanced treatment planning and response assessment. This was by design.

Our proven technology for advanced visualization, automated multi-modality image registration and quantitative imaging information is accessible all at the fingertips of physicians via an intuitive and simple to use interface. The ability to view, analyze and quickly process image information sets Velocity's software apart from conventional image viewers. By designing an uncluttered layout the physician exploits the full range of imaging tools.

In contrast to the limited functionality of existing PACS viewers, Velocity takes the approach of efficiency through better design. Velocity supports DICOM standards for MR, CT, CBCT, PET, SPECT, RT Structure Sets, and RT Dose. Image registration and tumor contouring can be performed or reviewed outside the department allowing maximum flexibility in performing these essential steps.

Velocity's image registration and fusion tools allow clinicians to rapidly fuse diagnostic imaging modalities to planning images to ensure the best match for anatomical and biologic modeling. In cases where rigid registration does not provide an optimal match, such as soft tissue areas of interest, enhanced image registration using Velocity's deformable methods may be used for many of the modalities.

Velocity's solution incorporates Standardized Uptake Value (SUV) measurements for PET imaging allowing physicians to make an objective assessment of changes in the biologic activity of a patient's cancer over time. Velocity utilizes SUV and intensity thresholding methods for automatically contouring and planning the PET tumor-target volume. Unique contouring tools allow quantitative volumetric statistics viewing during the contouring process. This was by design.

Velocity has focused on innovation with simplification and enhanced workflow design. In the end, all our products are thoughtfully integrated solutions supporting the physician in every step of the disease assessment and planning process, enabling better decision-making, and ultimately better treatment outcomes.
